Good biking connectivity is important to both Chapel Hill and Carrboro. You may click on this updated 2016 map to download the full size PDF version.
This map of the Upper Bolin Creek shows existing bikeways in blue and planned bikeways in green. (If the route will be built by 2017, it is considered exisiting.) Number 6 is the campus to campus connector selected as the optimum route by UNC and Town staff with community input. That route will connect with Estes Drive and an off-road bike lane along Seawell School Road to provide good north-south mobility. Seawell School Road will join the Chapel Hill High School Connector Multi Use Path to connect to neighborhoods to the north west. East- west connectivity is established by the planned UNC trail from Tripp Farm Road to Seawell School Road and also will offer level terrain for handicapped access to Bolin Creek. Number 9 at the bottom of the map makes a needed off-road bicycle connection to avoid a difficult portion of Estes Drive Extension.
