Hi Maureen

Sorry for the late reply. We don’t yet know what the owner plans to do. It was awful to see all those trees cut, but now there are signs of all kinds of life in the new sprouts and grasses. The Mayor and the Board of Aldermen have not abandoned plans to purchase the property.

You can read all about the impacts from reports from our June community meeting.

The owner plans to plant loblolly pines — not in appropriate for a tree farm, but not nearly as nice as the present mixed hardwood forest which is perfectly healthy.

I don’t yet live in the house, but we plan to retire there in a few years. I can’t attend the meeting, but I am appalled to hear of this plan.

Are there any plans to replant the area? Has erosion been considered? What effect will this have on wildlife?
